St. John’s International Airport opens our province of Newfoundland and Labrador to the world. Every day, thousands of people travel through this facility such that 70% of non-resident air travelers entering and exiting our province do so through this Airport. Currently serving close to 1.5 million passengers annually, the Airport has experienced unprecedented growth over the past decade. With a booming economy led by an ever expanding natural resources sector, passenger growth is expected to continue well into the future. In fact, 2 million passengers are anticipated to be served by St. John’s International Airport by 2023.
The Airport Authority has 55 airport operating partners including airline operators and other aviation related tenants, federal government agencies, and a variety of service providers including retail and food and beverage concessionaires and ground transportation providers. On an annual basis, the Airport Authority and its operating partners contribute $400 million in GDP/ Income to the Canadian economy, generate approximately 7,700 person-years of employment, and produce over $80 million in tax revenues to all three levels of government.
